About
The National History Day Club was inspired by the National History Day Competition (NHD), which takes place every year in the Spring and Summer through the regional, state, and national levels. NHD is a history competition that challenges students with new prompts every year to develop research projects in the form of individual or group essays, skits, exhibitions, websites, or documentaries. Because the annual prompts by the National History Day Competition invite students to explore a wide variety of topics, the NHD Club will provide NVOT students with the opportunity to explore history beyond the bounds of a regular classroom curriculum and to greater depths. Our club aims to make the research process and project creation easier and more enjoyable by providing an accessible platform of resources and peer review with friends. Club meetings every two weeks to once a month depending on the competition's progress throughout the year would keep students at pace with the competition and give time to receive feedback, helping more students be successful at the regional, state, or national competitions in the spring.
We wanted to create a club at Bergen County to encourage more students to participate in this enriching competition and create a tightly-knit community in which students interested in history and research have a space to meet each other and make life-long memories and friendships!
